Legendary Idol Marries Her Fan, Makes Teenage Dream Come True
A popular idol is making big changes to her professional life, but also her love life. She recently announced her marriage to a fan, who is now her husband.
A~chan (Nishiwaki Ayaka) is a member of Perfume, a three-member technopop Japanese girl group formed in 2000. They made their major label debut in 2005 with the song “Linear Motor Girl.” After their breakthrough single in 2007, “Polyrhythm,” Perfume went on to release nine #1 bestselling albums in a row, becoming one of Japan’s most successful girl groups.
After 25 years together, Perfume announced their hiatus on September 21. The members emphasized that this isn’t the end of Perfume, but rather a way of freezing their career thus far in a “cold sleep” while they recharge, work on their individual careers, and prepare to come back as a “new Perfume”. The hiatus will begin in 2026.
On November 11, A~chan announced on Instagram that she has married her long-time friend and fan, calling it her teenage dream come true. She also hinted that she’s planning to become a mother by including the hashtags #mother,” “#mama,” and “#baby” in her post.
