Boy Group Member Accused Of Dating An Underage Former SM Entertainment Trainee
A boy group member’s sixteen-year age gap with his ex-girlfriend has reportedly sparked backlash online.

On January 7, rookie actress and former SM Entertainment trainee Liu Yinuo confirmed that she had dated Tan Jianci in the past. Tan Jianci (also known as JC-T) is a member of the Chinese idol group M.I.C. According to Liu, they are no longer in a relationship.

Liu confirmed her past relationship with Tan after a post she made about a gift she had received sparked speculation about her and Tan. After the post blew up, Liu clarified her intentions, stating that she only meant to share a moment from her past, not start drama.

We were together but have broken up now. My intention is to leave a record and not be branded as the girl who got exposed (every girl deserves to be loved and respected.) I didn’t imagine things to escalate to this point. I’m sorry for causing everyone inconvenience, harm, and trouble.
— Liu Yinuo
Speculation about Liu’s age during the relationship quickly arose, given that Liu’s publicly posted birth year is 2006 and Tan was born in 1990, making them 19 and 35 years old, respectively.

However, Liu’s birth year has caused some confusion in itself, as Liu has referenced several different years as her birth year via social media posts.

Liu also confirmed that she was a 15-year-old SM Entertainment trainee in 2020, which would indicate a birth year of 2005.

As for Tan, he seemingly responded to the rumors on January 7, with a post about his two dogs and his song “Proof”. He captioned it, “PROOF: three single dogs,” possibly hinting at his current relationship status without addressing his past relationship with Liu.

The Chinese entertainment industry has been far from quiet since 2026 began. An influencer’s exposé recently led to fans and reporters scrutinizing the private lives of several celebrities.
