A court recently heard a case involving three celebrities accused of gang raping a woman.

According to Taiwan’s Kaohsiung District Court‘s ruling, three men, all variety show personalities, referred to as A, B, and C, had planned a trip to Lambai Island in 2021. A met the accuser Xiao Wen (an alias) through a dating app and invited her to join them at a hotel for drinks and games.

According to Xiao Wen, she became heavily intoxicated and lost consciousness, accusing the three men of taking turns raping her nine times over four hours. Xiao Wen filed a criminal complaint and a civil lawsuit seeking damages of 1.8 million NTD (61,000 USD).

However, A countered the accusations, claiming that Xiao Wen knew who they were and actively initiated the hotel gathering, even paying for drinks herself when they ran out.

A claimed that Xiao Wen was comfortable being nude in front of B and C, and voluntarily performed oral sex on him, leaving traces of her DNA on his body. He also claimed that she initiated unprotected sex with him twice. In addition, Xiao Wen allegedly asked to have sex with B and C as well, 3 and 4 times, respectively.

Due to her not showing visible distress or seeking out help from hotel staff, the court found her behavior different from typical trauma responses. Along with this, a medical exam and related evidence did not support her claim of rape, leading the court to reject her case.

She has since appealed, with the Kaohsiung High Court upholding the original ruling, though the case can be appealed further.
