[★BREAKING] Rock icon Shin Hae Chul passes away

After suffering from cardiac arrest, which led to a complex heart surgery and recovery, veteran singer Shin Hae Chul has passed away on October 27th at 8:19 pm KST at the age of 46.

Shin Hae Chul, a known legend and icon of the rock scene in South Korea, was taken into hospital Songpa-gu, Pungnap-dong after suffering from a heart attack on October 22nd. Since his admission, he has received intensive treatment and underwent a three-hour surgery following his cardiac arrest.

In a statement previously released by his agency, Shin Hae Chul was surrounded by friends and families as they wait for him to be conscious follow his surgery. Unfortunately, sing his surgery on October 22nd, the artist remained unconscious in his coma for six days.

The company also stated that they are unsure of the cause of his cardiac arrest, and added that there was no particular health problem prior to the cardiac arrest.

Shin Hae Chul’s sudden cardiac arrest not only shocked his fans, but also his friends in the industry, with Seo Taiji, PSY and more expressing their concern.

The popular rocker made his debut in 1988 at the “College Music Festival” hosted by MBC. He has not only been known as a solo artist, but was also affiliated as a band member for N.EX.T and a producer as well. Nicknamed the “King of Darkness (Mawang)” by his fans, some of his popular songs include “Do Not Cry”, “Jazz Cafe”, and “A Doll’s Knight”.

After touching many people’s hearts with 16 years of music, Shin Hae Chul passed away at the young age of 46.
