First up, we have Song Joong Ki‘s highly anticipated series titled The Chaebol Family’s Youngest Son. The JTBC K-Drama is based on a web novel with the same title, stirring up even more excitement for the upcoming premiere. The series will follow the story of Yoon Hyun Woo (played by Song Joong Ki), whose spirit enters the body of a conglomerate family’s son after being wrongfully murdered.

While there is no exact air date yet, the JTBC series will premiere sometime in 2022.

2. Twenty-Five, Twenty-One — tvN

Coming in at number 2 is Twenty-Five, Twenty-One. The tvN production features a stellar cast of Kim Tae RiNam Joo HyukWJSN‘s Bona and more. The K-Drama is set to follow the love story between Na Hee Do (Kim Tae Ri) and Baek Yi Jin (Nam Joo Hyuk). This tvN series will be focusing on the romantic lives of the 5 main characters from 1998-2021.

The series began filming back in September and will be premiering in the first half of 2022. This production also marks Kim Tae Ri’s first small screen comeback since her 2018 K-Drama Mr. Sunshine, adding onto the overall anticipation.

3. Big Mouth — tvN

We have another tvN series on this list and this time, it’s Girls’ Generation‘s Yoona and Lee Jong Suk‘s upcoming production, Big Mouth. Lee Jong Suk will be playing a talkative, third-rate lawyer named Park Chang Ho, who finds himself in a life-threatening situation. Yoona will be playing Park Chang Ho’s wife, Go Mi Ho, who is a nurse that helps him clear his name.

The legal K-Drama is directed by Oh Chung Hwan, who previously worked on While You Were SleepingHotel Del Luna, and Start-Up—adding onto the hype even more.

4. Island — OCN

We have an OCN series fourth on the list, and it’s none other than Island. Set on Jeju Island, the plot follows the story of the main characters fighting against evil beings that are set out to destroy humanity as we know it. This series also boasts a star-studded cast, with Kim Nam GilLee Da HeeSung Joon, and ASTRO‘s Cha Eun Woo taking part in the K-Drama.

This production is also based on a webcomic with the same title and has garnered a sizable following. The filming for Island began in October and has a premiere date of sometime in the first half of 2022.

5. Why Oh Soo Jae? — SBS

SBS‘s Why Oh Soo Jae? is another hot upcoming television series that has K-Drama viewers excited. Starring Seo Hyun JinHwang In Yeop and more, the legal series will follow the story of a hot headed lawyer (Seo Hyun Jin) falling in love with a law school student (Hwang In Yeop). This production garnered quite a bit of attention due to it being one of Hwang In Yeop’s acting comebacks since his appearance in the mega-hit series, True Beauty.

Why Oh Soo Jae? will be premiering in March 2022 and will be airing every Friday and Saturday on SBS TV.

6. Crazy Love — KBS2

Last, but most certainly not least, we have KBS2‘s Crazy Love. The K-Drama will follow the story of CEO No Go Jin (Kim Jae Wook), who is a narcissistic math genius who fakes having amnesia after being told that he will be murdered. Lee Shin Ah (Krystal) is No Go Jin’s secretary who has no presence at her company due to her quiet personality. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she is told that she doesn’t have much time to live.

Crazy Love will be airing sometime in the first half of 2022 every Monday and Tuesday. It will be airing via KBS2 and on Chinese streaming platform iQIYI for its international audience.
