6 Songs That Played An Important Factor In Helping BTS Become Global

Slowly but surely, they made it to the top.

BTS started off originally as a hip-hop group with a hard-edge theme. They touched on themes regarding mental health and troubled youth as well as the journey of loving oneself. They are unique in that they carry a separate story line that ties in with their music. Here are some songs that helped contribute to their global success.

1. “Boy In Luv”

This track released in 2014 kicked off their idol reputation globally. This track hit number 45 on the charts in Korea and the EP Skool Luv Affair and made its first appearance on the Billboard World Albums Chart at number 3.

2. “I NEED U”

In 2015, they released “I NEED U”, which was a part of their third EP The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 1. This track was their first top five hit in Korea and first music show win on SBS’s The Show.

3. “Dope”

The release of “Dope” started a more global following and gained attention for receiving 100M views for its music video on YouTube despite being a smaller company.

4. “FIRE”

The popularity overseas began to overflow after the release of “FIRE” in 2016. This song was also used in many BGM (background music) in Korea and became one of the better known songs of BTS. Their performance at the 2016 MAMA has become one of the best stages in the history of BTS as they gained more fans in Korea as well.

5. “Blood, Sweat, and Tears”

In 2016, they released their studio album Wings, and made an “all-kill” on Korea’s music chart with “Blood Sweat and Tears.” This also hit number one on the Gaon Digital Chart with the album hitting number 26 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.

6. “FAKE LOVE”

In 2018, they released their third studio album, Love Yourself: Tear, and won Top Social Artist two years in a row with “FAKE LOVE,” making them the only Korean artist to do so. This album allowed them to receive worldwide recognition as they debuted number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
