6 Stars Who Attended Public Events While Enlisted In The Military

While military enlistment often means a full hiatus from a celebrity’s main career, some of them still manage to make public appearances at events while serving.

Here are six stars who left fans shocked by showing up at events in the middle of their enlistment:

1. Lee Do Hyun

On May 7, KST, the actor attended the 60^th Baeksang Arts Awards, giving his fans a pleasant surprise. Lee enlisted in the military on August 14, 2023, but showed up at the event representing his recent box-office success, Exhuma. He also chose to attend the event in his military uniform, which created a huge buzz.

2. Son Sang Yeon

Actor Son Sang Yeon created a huge buzz in 2021 when he attended the 2021 SBS Drama Awards. He had enlisted on November 8 of that very year and after just a little over a month, he showed up on the red carpet in his military uniform. Son took home the Male Rookie Actor award for Racket Boys that night.

3. Park Hyung Sik

Actor Park Hyung Sik enlisted in the military on June 10, 2019. So, when he showed up at the 40^th Blue Dragon Film Awards that very year, it immediately became a hot topic. He won the Popular Star Award and accepted it in his full military uniform on stage. Needless to say, his attire created quite a commotion about his visuals.

4. Kim Jaejoong

The former TVXQ member enlisted in the military on March 31, 2015. That very year, he showed up at the Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards in October. Jaejoong also attended the ceremony in full military attire, making fans swoon over his dapper visuals.

5. Kim Min Ho

Actor Kim Min Ho made headlines in 2019 after he attended the 2019 Buil Film Awards in Busan on October 4. He was dressed in his full military attire at the event.

6. Yoon Gye Sang

Actor Yoon Gye Sang attended the 41^st Baeksang Arts Awards in 2005 while he was enlisted in the military. He took the press by surprise after appearing in his uniform on the red carpet and posed with a salute instead of the usual gestures at the photo wall. Since this was one of the earliest instances of a celebrity showing up on camera while enlisted, it made quite the noise back then.

While artists are not able to work on any commercial project during their enlistment period, they are allowed to appear at such public events as long as they don’t get paid for it. Thanks to this policy, fans have at least been able to get glimpses of their favorite stars while they’re enlisted.
