Here Are 7 Times BTS Performed At Iconic Venues And Proved The Whole World Is Literally Their Stage

BTS has performed on the grandest stages!

BTS recently once again stole the hearts of ARMYs worldwide after they participated at the 76th United Nations General Assembly in New York! During the event, they also performed their track “Permission to Dance.” BTS made history by becoming the first K-Pop artist to perform at the United Nations Headquarters and only the third artist ever following Shakira and Beyoncé!

However, it isn’t the first time BTS has performed somewhere unique. Here are seven unique venues BTS has performed at!

1. Geunjeongjeon Grand Residence in Gyeongbokgung Palace

In October 2020, BTS performed their track “Dynamite” at the Geunjeongjeon Grand Residence in Gyeongbokgung Palace. First opened in 1395, it was one of the main palaces in the Joseon dynasty until 1895. With its history and grandeur, it was the perfect backdrop for an epic performance.

In particular, Geunjeongjeon Grand Residence was the throne hall where the kings granted an audience to his officials, made announcements, and greeted foreign visitors. Constructed mainly of wood, the version BTS danced in front comes as part of a reconstruction done in the late 1800s.

With the lights in the building and charisma of BTS, it was definitely the perfect place for K-Pop royalty like BTS!

2. Gyeonghoeru Pavillion in Gyeongbokgung Palace

BTS has had the chance to perform at two different parts of Gyeongbokgung Palace. In 2020, they also performed their track “Mikrokosmos” at the Gyeonghoeru Pavillion for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The venue was first constructed in 1412 and was for big state dinners.

Unlike the lights and flash from their “Dynamite” performance, this venue was more suited to the feeling of the track. The Pavillion was constructed of mainly wood and stone, and the 48 wooden pillars seemed to create an even more impactful performance by BTS. It allowed them to use their surroundings more.

As one of Korea’s national treasures, it seemed like the perfect stage for BTS!

3. National Museum of Korea

During the pandemic, millions of students missed out on their graduation. Yet, BTS wasn’t going to stop them, and they delivered their “Dear Class of 2020” speech and several performances to celebrate with ARMYs. Yet, it wasn’t just on any stage but done at the National Museum of Korea!

First opened in 1909, the building became a huge part of the country’s history as the country’s first museum. The building BTS actually performed in is the new site that was opened in 2005 at Yongsan Family Park in Seoul. Singing outside, the members sang against the beautiful Seoul skyline.

Holding some of the most precious treasures and full of learning, BTS couldn’t have picked a better place to congratulate ARMYs.

4. Incheon Airport and inside an airplane

Although the COVID-19 pandemic meant people couldn’t travel, it didn’t stop BTS from performing on a plane in November 2020. In a performance for The Late Late Show with James Corden, not only did they perform at Incheon Airport, but on a proper plane! Starting outside near the runway, the space gave the group enough room to dance around, and the lighting looked spectacular.

Yet, even after boarding the much smaller plane, the members used everything to their advantage. As one of the largest airports in Korea, this plane was definitely luxurious and reflected the grandeur the locations showcased.

5. World Cup Bridge

On July 14, BTS amazed viewers of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon by performing “Butter” on the World Cup Bridge in Seoul. The bridge started construction in 2010 and crossed the Han River in South Korea to connect Mapo and Yeongdeungpo.

BTS performed “Butter” before the bridge was opened. It meant that the location went through a lot of safety checks. Samsung C&T, the bridge’s main construction company, checked the bridge three times and cleaned the bridge to make it performance-ready!

Due to its slow construction, many people forgot about the bridge. As expected, BTS’s performance brought it back to the forefront of people’s minds ahead of the opening of the bridge that happened at the start of the month.

6. Grand Central Station

In early 2020, BTS traveled to America and performed their track “ON” for The Tonight Show, Starring Jimmy Fallon. Yet, it couldn’t just be done anywhere, so they went big and performed at Grand Central Station in New York. It is an iconic scene shown in movies, music videos, and much more.

Located in Manhatten, the station was first opened in the early 1900s and has welcomed visitors from across the world. The members performed in the iconic Main Concourse. It is easily recognizable with the information booth topped with a four-sided brass clock, one of Grand Central’s most famous icons.

Its huge space and beautiful interior added yet another layer to the group’s performance and was definitely a unique stage.

7. UN Headquarters

Of course, the most recent performance at the UN Headquarters could not be missed out on! In the early 1950s, the headquarters was opened in New York as it was seen as a neutral ground for location aftermath of the war from the league nations. BTS’s performance started in the General Assembly Hall which can seat up to 1,800 people. Making their way down the huge pathway, it shows just how vast the room is.

The next location was the building’s lobby. In contrast to the main hall, it was much brighter, allowing light to come in through the glass ceiling. In the lobby, the main attraction is the pendulum, which was presented by the Netherlands in 1955. It consists of a gold-plated sphere suspended from the 75-foot ceiling by a stainless steel wire.

After a quick tour of the building, BTS eventually went outside, showcasing the building’s entrance with stunning views of New York and a glass structure reflecting the light. Yet, the final stop was the best, and it was the rose garden! A gift from the All-America Rose Sections, Inc., it has over 1,500 rose bushes. With views of East New York, it was the perfect place to end BTS’s performance.
