The Only 2nd Generation Girl Groups Left In K-Pop
As new K-Pop groups prepare for their upcoming debuts, fans are still processing that the industry might be entering the fifth generation of K-Pop groups.
But even though K-Pop is already rapidly approaching the fifth generation, there are still active second-generation K-Pop groups that continue to impress netizens with their immense skills.
Here are the ten second-generation K-Pop girl groups currently active in the industry.
1. Apink
Apink debuted in 2011 with the iconic song, ‘I Don’t Know.”
And recently made a comeback with “D N D” in April 2023.
2. BGH4
BGH4 debuted in September 2006 with their album Memories of HIM.
The group did disband only two years later before surprising fans and returning as a girl group for their 2022 release “SHINING BEAUTIFULLY DARK.”
3. Big Mama
Big Mama made their debut in 2003 with their album Like The Bible.
Like BGH4, Big Mama disbanded in 2012 but unexpectedly reunited in 2021 and have continued to release new music since.
4. Davichi
Davichi made their debut in 2008 with their album Amaranth.
Their most recent release was in 2022 with Season Note.
5. Girls’ Generation
Girls’ Generation debuted in 2007 with their iconic hit “Into The New World.”
Recently the group made headlines for releasing their newest album, Forever 1, in 2022.
6. J Rabbit
J Rabbit debuted in 2010 with the song “Take One.”
The duo has remained active since their debut, releasing the OST “Happiness” for the 2022 K-Drama The Interest of Love.
7. KARA
KARA made their debut in 2007 with “Break It.”
Although KARA disbanded in 2016, the group recently reunited to release the album Move Again in 2022.
8. OKDAL
OKDAL made their debut in 2010 with the album Okdal Radio.
Most recently, OKDAL released “Ceremony” in 2022.
9. Sunny Hill
Sunny Hill made their debut in 2007 with Love Letter.
Although the group’s line-up continually changed, with current member Kota debuting in 2010, the group remains active. Most recently, releasing “Hold Me Again” in 2022.
10. T-ARA
T-ARA made their debut “Lie” in 2009.
After a long hiatus, the group made a triumphant comeback with Re:T-ARA in 2021.
Notably, second-generation girl group Nine Muses are also reportedly making a comeback in 2023, although the official release date has yet to be announced.
