5 Other K-Dramas “On Crack” To Watch If You Can’t Wait For “Penthouse” Season 3

There’s more where “Penthouse” came from.

K-Drama Penthouse is known for its spicy plot twists and a thrilling storyline that borders crazy. Unfortunately, Season 2 concluded a while back and we’re left thirsty for more. While Penthouse Season 3 is coming up real soon on June 4, 2021, for those K-Drama aficionados that simply cannot wait, here are 5 other K-Dramas “on crack” to keep you occupied.

1. “Mine”

This one is still ongoing, but the episodes are juicy enough to keep you looking forward to each coming week. Mine is about the intricacies of a chaebol family through generations. Yang Soon Hye, the elderly matriarch of the family is left to govern the main house when her husband, the CEO, passes away. She schemes with her stepson, Han Ji Yong to give the CEO role to her real son Han Jin Ho, on the condition that she helps hide the fact that the new house tutor is her stepson’s ex…and the real mother of youngest grandson, Han Ha Joon. Han Ji Yong’s wife, famous actress Seo Hi Soo (played by Park Bo Young) struggles to hold her family together. On the other hand, Han Jin Ho’s wife, Jung Seo Hyun (played by Kim Seo Hyung) hides her sexuality from the family. VIXX’s N rounds up the cast, playing the favored grandson, Han Soo Hyuk, who falls for forbidden fruit in the form of a young housemaid.

2. “Unknown Woman”

Birth secrets, returning as your dead twin to take revenge on the people that tried to murder you, jail time, crazy exes and chaebols, this drama literally has everything that screams makjang. However, the downside is that it has a whopping 102 episodes in total. On the upside, the entire series is available on KBS World’s YouTube channel for free. Check out the first episode below.

3. “VIP”

| SBS

Jang Na Ra really is a vampire, huh? She shows off her ageless beauty yet again in VIP, where she plays the department head of the V.I.P service team at a department store. Unfortunately, she suspects her husband is having an affair. On the upside, her best friend (frenemy?) is back. Lee Chung Ah plays the ever capable Lee Hyun Ah who balances work, friendship, and love. Also, this drama has many kickass outfits if you need a little fashion inspiration.

4. “The Last Empress”

Is Jang Nara the queen of makjangs or what? She stars as the plucky Oh Sunny, who suddenly marries Emperor Lee Hyuk, played by Shin Sung Rok. But of course, nothing is smooth sailing even though she literally falls into a new life of luxury. The Emperor has a secret mistress who’s also your secretary, and suddenly you fall for your bodyguard. Also, you know it’s going to be a damn good drama if Shin Sung Rok is in the villain role! But wait, the Emperor can’t be the evil one…can he? 🤷

5. “Scholar Who Walks The Night”

Lee Joon Ki, Lee Yu Bi, Kim So Eun, TVXQ‘s Changmin, Lee Hyun Woo, and Lee Soo Hyuk? Sign us up. But aside from the stellar cast, the drama is about a vampire-monster thing that controls the king and terrorizes the people. The young prince tries to stop him but ends up at his mercy. On the other hand, you have a good vampire who seeks his long-lost first love and a cross-dressing noble lady who gets tangled up in this huge quest for justice because she falls in love with the good vampire. I don’t know about you but I’d run for my life if I ran into a bloodsucking beastie. But if it’s Lee Joon Ki, then just maaaaaybe.

These 5 shows ought to keep you in your seats until Penthouse opens with Season 3. Stay tuned for more updates on the K-Drama world!
