Gone are the days of the infamous fish kisses and ending a scene once a couple enters a bedroom together…

K-Dramas are often strict with sexual content. So, we see little to nothing beyond a brief makeout session. Yet, a few have broken boundaries in the past couple of years. Check out 5+ NSFW K-Dramas that earned their ratings…

1. Hit the Spot

Coupang Play‘s Hit the Spot (also known as Fanta G Spot or Fantasy Spot), starring EXID‘s HaniDal Shabet‘s Woohee, Park Sun Ho, and Choi Kwang Rok, is all about sex. So, it is not only rated NC-17, “the highest rating in the Motion Picture Association (MPA) film rating system used for films distributed in the United States.” Viewers are again warned when they play an episode that it’s NSFW.

On the other hand, Mi Na is Hee Jae’s confident and energetic best friend and colleague at Play Books, a supplier of books and related products centered around sex and romance. The K-Drama begins with a graphic pornography scene before it transitions to a couple who had been watching begin engaging in sex. This is the first of many graphic sex scenes, including full-frontal nudity. Throughout its 8 episodes, characters frequently talk about sex, toys, and engage in sexual activity.

2. You Raise Me Up

Previously, Hani starred in another “erotic” K-Drama. Yoon Shi Yoon starred as a man with low self-esteem who seeks help from his urologist (Hani), who also turns out to be his first love, in You Raise Me Up.

A comedy-drama surrounding Do Yong Shik, who is experiencing decreased sex drive in his 30s, as he reunites with his first love Lee Ru Da, who is his urologist.

With topics such as erectile dysfunction, sex drive, etc., this is certainly a K-Drama you might not want to watch with just anybody. Still, it’s tamer in some ways than Hit the Spot.

3. Somebody

Nearly every K-Drama in this list looks practically PG compared to Somebody. This K-Drama stars Kim Young Kwang, Kang Hae Lim, Kim Yong Ji, and Kim Soo Yeon, and in the USA, it is rated MA, the highest rating for a TV show.

There are not only multiple scenes of masturbation and graphic sex, including full frontal nudity, but there are horribly gory murders as it focuses on a serial killer.

4. The World of the Married

Based on BBC One‘s drama series Doctor Foster, The World of the Married was one the highest-rated dramas of 2020 and won awards. Dr. Ji Sun Woo (Kim Hee Ae) learns that her husband (Park Hae Joon) is having an affair with a younger woman (Han So Hee)…

A story about a married couple whose betrayal of one another leads to a whirlwind of revenge.

The K-Drama shocked viewers with multiple sex scenes, although they are technically not as graphic as some of the shows previously mentioned. Still, The World of the Married focuses primarily on sex and affairs, so you can expect a lot of spicy content. Not only does the married couple have a sex scene in the first episode, but we see the husband have a lustful rendevous with his mistress. Sun Woo also starts having an affair of her own with a younger man.

5. Nevertheless

Another K-Drama led by Han So Hee surprised viewers with its sexy scenes. Nevertheless was certainly a mature-themed K-Drama by fans’ standards as it focused on a toxic relationship.

The intoxicating charm of a flirtatious art school classmate pulls a reluctant love cynic into a friends-with-benefits relationship.

While Na Bi (Han So Hee) and Park Jae Eon (Song Kang) have many steamy moments together, one in particular caught viewers by surprise. In episode 2, Na Bi opens the door for Jae Eon, and they immediately begin making out and undressing each other (it’s shot in such a way that we don’t see graphic nudity). With Jae Eon on top of Na Bi’s now topless body, he kisses her down, and just as he reaches her most intimate area, she wakes up to realize it was a wet dream.

6. My Name

My Name is another Netflix and Han So Hee K-Drama rightfully earned its spot on the list. Han’s character is unlike any we have seen her play before, though. This time, she is an action hero seeking justice.

In Episode 8, she and her partner Pil Do (Ahn Bo Hyun) finally have a heart-to-heart at his beach house after initially having a love-hate relationship. The two end up having sex, showing some nudity, and it’s symbolic of much more.

As I saw people being divided in opinion regarding that scene, I saw that it could be interpreted in different ways. For me, as both Ji Woo and Pil Do have scars, I hoped that they would become a source of comfort to each other.

Regarding the sex scene, it was the process of how Jiwoo changed from a monster, due to Pil Do. Regarding that part, I thought that it would bring about emotions of a love scene.

7. Squid Game

Netflix’s worldwide hit and award-winning K-Drama Squid Game earned its TV-MA rating due to its violence and gore. Still, there is brief nudity throughout, including painted bodies, male and female buttocks, frontal female nudity, and sexual dialogues.

The scene that was arguably most shocking was Deok Su (Heo Sung Tae) and Han Mi Nyeo (Kim Joo Ryoung)’s bathroom sex scene in Episode 4. Although it’s only a few seconds long, we see as much as the two sweating, moaning, and thrusting, as well as Mi Nyeo’s breasts.
