“Call Me Mommy?” — 16-Year-Old Idol’s Reaction To Fan Request At Face-To-Face Event Sparks Heated Reactions
A video of CORTIS‘s Keonho from a fan event has sparked disgust among netizens.
Earlier this year, CORTIS officially made their debut, gaining attention with their first digital single, “What You Want.” Their album, Color Outside the Lines, was released around a month after and the group are currently promoting it in various ways, including through fan sign events.
A clip of member Keonho from one such event has gained attention online for all the wrong reasons.
In the video, the fan can be heard asking Keonho to call her “mommy,” and the idol repeats to confirm that was what she was asking.
He follows through with the request, and the video ends shortly after.
While the concept of “mommy fans” exists among older fans who view younger idols in a paternalistic manner, many felt it was highly inappropriate to ask that of the idol. Keonho is also only 16, making the request that much worse in the eyes of netizens, who questioned why the staff did not step in.
