19.6 Million Won?! — 4th Gen Idol Spends Money To Serve Fans On HIS Birthday, Wowing Netizens
When it comes to idol birthdays, fans go to great lengths to celebrate when it is still allowed. In the past, many idols’ fan bases would send dozens of gifts to their faves’ company, spending major dinero to do so out of love.
Recently, a fourth-generation idol went viral for the money spent on his birthday, with a twist.
SM Entertainment’s NCT comprises several subunits, including the Chinese unit WayV, who debuted in 2019.
August 8 is member Xiaojun‘s birthday, and many fans expected the idol to follow the recently established trend of NCT members holding special fan meetings for their birthdays, like he did the previous year.
However, it was announced that Xiaojun would hold a special birthday event at the hot pot franchise HaiDiLao. Fans could enter the raffle to win a spot at the celebration by answering questions about Xiaojun, which helped to narrow down those who are his biggest fans.
The event was advertised as a meal with the idol, who would join fans sporadically during.
The event took place on August 7 and did not disappoint at all!
Fans shared their videos and recaps of the event, showing Xiaojun bringing items to tables, slinging dough for noodles, and, in one unfortunate but very Xiaojun situation, dropping a fan’s photocard into the soup.

Towards the end of the event, Xiaojun went and paid for all 240 fans’ meals, showing off a scarf-like receipt. Based on the base prices of meals at HaiDiLao, a conservative estimate for the total he spent on fans’ meals would be ₩9.60 million KRW (about $6,930 USD).
However, many fans have claimed that the idol actually spent around ₩19.6 million KRW (about $14,100 USD)!
