“Only 2?” — SM Entertainment Artist’s Low Album Sales Spark Shock And Anger
One of the most significant parts of the K-Pop experience these days is the release of physical albums. Fans love collecting multiple versions of their favorite releases, and the total number of albums sold measures a group’s success.
Due to K-Pop’s widespread popularity, multiple groups have been able to break the million-seller mark on individual albums, with many going above and beyond.

Recently, netizens were shocked by an artist’s album sales due to her affiliation with SM Entertainment and how low they were — including multiple days where only two albums were sold.
In May 2024, it was announced that SM Entertainment would launch KRUCIALIZE, a subsidiary with a focus on R&B.

So far, only one artist, Min Jiwoon, has been announced as signed to the label. Min Jiwoon originally debuted in 2018 as a soloist, before re-debuting under KRUCIALIZE with a digital single.

On August 22, Min Jiwoon’s first mini album, Pink, Then Grey, was released featuring the double title tracks “Scared of Love” and “Byebye.”
So far, according to music charts, the album has only sold 67 albums in the five days since it has released, with most being recorded on its first day.

Many were surprised by the low amount, considering that she is technically an SM Artist but remarked that the company has allegedly not put effort in promoting the release. Others wondered if her age, 25, was the reason for an apparent lack of interest.
