Five members of WJSN (Cosmic Girls) have decided to leave Starship Entertainment while eight members have decided to stay with the company.
According to an exclusive report from JTBC, five members of WJSN — Luda, Dawon, Xuanyi, Cheng Xiao, and Meiqi — have decided to not renew their contracts with Starship Entertainment. The other eight members — Seola, Bona, EXY, Soobin, Eunseo, Yeoreum, Dayoung, and Yeonjung — have recently decided to renew their contracts with the company.
Since the second half of 2018, WJSN had been operating as primarily a 10-membered group with the Chinese members Xuanyi, Cheng Xiao, and Meiqi conducting their own activities in China.
WJSN initially debuted as 12 members in February 2016 with Yeonjung being added to the group in July 2016 following her debut with I.O.I. Starship Entertainment has since confirmed JTBC’s report with their statement.

Recently, we have completed the contract renewal process for eight members of WJSN: Seola, Bona, EXY, Soobin, Eunseo, Yeoreum, Dayoung, and Yeonjung.
After a series of discussions, it is unfortunate that we have to share that Luda and Dawon have decided to conclude their contracts with us. We are grateful for the hard work and dedication that they put in with us up to this point. We respect their decisions and we will support them in their future endeavors so that they can continue to succeed. Also, we would like to share that the contracts for Yuehua Entertainment artists Xuanyi, Cheng Xiao, and Meiqi’s participation with WJSN, have also concluded.
We promise to make every effort to make WJSN shine through their activities in various ways and we will provide full support to the members who have renewed their contracts with us based on a feeling of mutual trust.
