Actor Apologizes For His Win At “Blue Dragon Awards,” Names His Co-Star As The Deserving Candidate
On November 19, KST, the 46th Blue Dragon Awards took place at KBS Hall in Seoul, celebrating the best of Korean films this year.
During the event, Park Chan Wook’s movie No Other Choice won many awards, including in the Best Supporting Actor category. Veteran actor Lee Sung Min won the award for his portrayal of Goo Beom Mo in the movie.

Lee got up to accept the award with a funny gesture, running his hand through his hair. He started his speech by saying, “It wouldn’t be true to say I didn’t expect it at all—there was a tiny ‘maybe.’ I usually just clap until my hands are on fire and go home, but today I clapped a lot more. Every time I’m nominated, I wonder whether I should prepare a speech or not, but this time I really didn’t. It felt like a role I couldn’t possibly win for, so thank you for giving me this award.”
He continued to thank director Park Chan Wook and other cast and crew members, and then started walking offstage. However, the actor turned back to the microphone, and he shouted, “Honestly, I thought Park Hee Soon would be nominated,” mentioning his junior actor and co-star from the same movie. He continued, “I’m sorry and grateful that he wasn’t. I love you,” drawing more laughter from the audience.
