Actor Lee Sun Kyun Requests A “Lie Detector Test” Amid Drug Use Investigation
Actor Lee Sun Kyun recently underwent overnight questioning for drug use allegations. Now, he and his defense attorney have a new request.
According to legal sources on December 26, Lee Sun Kyun, who is under investigation for violations of drug control laws related to marijuana and psychotropic substances, requested a polygraph test. He submitted a written opinion to the Incheon Police Narcotics Crime Investigation Division through his defense attorney.
Lee Sun Kyun’s defense attorney explained to Yonhap News what this round of questioning was like.
This third round of questioning was no different from a confrontation investigation… The police asked questions as if they were interrogating a suspect like, ‘A’s statement said this. What is your opinion?’

The defense attorney felt the situation was unfair to Lee Sun Kyun and requested a solution.
If we go by A’s words, his result in the examination by the National Forensic Service should have been positive, but Lee Sun Kyun received a negative result… The situation is unfair, so both Lee Sun Kyun and A should undergo a polygraph test to scientifically verify whose statement is accurate.

Additionally, Lee Sun Kyun’s defense attorney expressed that it is burdensome for him to attend the police station again and suggested that the polygraph test be conducted privately.
After reviewing Lee Sun Kyun’s request, the police will decide soon whether to proceed with the polygraph test.
A polygraph test, often called a “lie detector test,” is a test that records multiple signals from sensors that are attached to the person taking the test. The sensors record the person’s breathing rate, pulse, blood pressure, perspiration, and at times, arm and leg movement, while the questioner asks a variety of questions to see how these signals react to them.
Earlier, Lee Sun Kyun was accused of receiving marijuana from the manager of an adult entertainment establishment in Gangnam.
In a previous police interrogation, he stated that he did not know that he was receiving drugs. He later received negative results for both preliminary urine tests and precise examinations by the National Forensic Service regarding hair and body hair, indicating no presence of narcotics.
