ADOR Firmly Asks Press To Use The Group Name NewJeans
ADOR has responded to NewJeans’ new group name, NJZ.
They stated that promoting under a group name that has not been agreed upon would cause confusion and that the termination of their contracts was a one-sided claim.
Below is the statement released by ADOR.
“Hello, this is ADOR. We are here to inform you of our position regarding the group name of NewJeans. On February 7, NewJeans announced they would promote under a group name that was not agreed upon with ADOR. This has caused confusion among reporters, as we have received many inquiries regarding this.
The exclusive contract between ADOR and NewJeans is legally valid, and the claim that it was terminated is one-sided. We have filed a lawsuit to confirm the contract’s validity and are waiting for the court’s decision.
We ask that reporters use the official name ‘NewJeans’ based on the contract when writing articles. We ask reporters, who are more aware of the importance of exclusive contracts in the entertainment industry, to cooperate so that accurate coverage can be reported.”

Korean netizens were appalled at ADOR’s position regarding the name change.
- “Just watch, if they use the name NewJeans, they’re going to sue them.”

- “Even though the name was changed, I kept using the name NewJeans, but after seeing this, I will start using NJZ.”
- “Who are they to say do this and do that? Just give them the group name so they can use it.”
Meanwhile, the injunction filed on January 13 to “prohibit the agreement of advertising contracts” hearing date is set for March 7.
