Earlier on May 2, 2024, it was reported that ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin had allegedly asked for the rights to terminate NewJeans’ contract unilaterally, without the need to go through HYBE. Reports indicated that she had sent this request to HYBE in early 2024. HYBE’s management used this to infer that Min Hee Jin was on a quest to usurp management rights and power.

In response, ADOR has stated that Min made the request in order to run a more independent label.

“On January 25, 2024, Min Hee Jin had a face-to-face meeting with HYBE CEO Park Ji Won, in which she made some requests about [the exclusive rights to sign] important contracts including that of selected external service providers and artists’ exclusive contracts. She had made the request in order to resolve the unfair interference she faced during NewJeans’ debut process, as well as to run a more independent label.”

She sent the requests additionally through an edited shareholder’s contract that was sent to HYBE on February 16, 2024. After this, HYBE claimed that she was trying to usurp management rights.

ADOR also continued to accuse HYBE of distorting the truth.

“This is yet another item that shoes how HYBE distorts the truth and starts media play wars by cherry-picking. Furthermore, if they plan on continuing to make public the negotiations about shareholder contracts, we suggest that they reopen discussions about the contracts with us.”
