aespa’s “Mocking” And “Rude” Behavior Towards IVE Resurfaces
Recently, aespa have faced scrutiny, likely sparked by Karina‘s “political scandal.”
On May 26, Karina shared several photos of herself wearing a red jacket with the number “2” written on it and captioned the post with a rose emoji. Many Korean netizens interpreted them as a show of support for the country’s right-wing party.
Since then, Karina — and aespa — have been targeted with criticism, despite Karina and SM Entertainment each releasing statements negating the assumptions.
Now, aespa as a whole have been accused of having bad attitudes towards IVE.
One of the instances currently circulating involves Ningning and Giselle allegedly mocking Liz and Rei. During their acceptance speech at the 2023 Melon Music Awards (MMA) that took place on December 2, 2023, the two IVE members covered their faces while crying.
Ningning and Giselle are accused of mocking the members while standing next to them on stage at the 2023 Gayo Daejaejeon that took place December 31, 2023 by covering their faces in a similar manner.
aespa were also accused of laughing at Rei’s tearful speech at the MMAs as she spoke about her hiatus.
Fans have come to the idols defense regarding the situations, offering explanations about their reactions.
First, Ningning and Giselle were allegedly reacting to the performance of Lee Juck’s “Don’t Worry” being played at the time during the 2025 MMA.
A different perspective offered that real reason for aespa’s reaction to Rei’s speech was supposedly because the IVE member suddenly changed her tone, and that they were reacting because she was cute.
