Hit K-Drama “My Ahjussi” Gets A Chinese Remake — Meet The Cast
The K-Drama My Ahjussi, starring IU and Lee Sun Kyun, received critical acclaim and global popularity for its glaringly real portrayal of the tough modern-day society. Years later, now in 2023, the drama will be remade with a Chinese cast. Here’s all we know about the actors in the upcoming remake.
1. The Character Of Park Dong Hoon
Taiwanese actor Zhao Yu Ting (Mark Chao) will be taking the role of the main lead. He is a skilled actor, and this is not his first K-Drama remake! He played the role of Team Leader Oh in the Chinese remake of Misaeng. The son of TV host Allen Chao, showbiz is in his blood. Although he is only 38, he’s already married with a daughter. Zhao Yu Ting also won the Best Actor Award at the 44th Golden Bell Awards with his first television debut in 2009 with the drama Black and White.
2. The Character of Lee Ji An
Originally played by IU, Liu Hao Cun will play the female lead in the remake. Liu Hao Cun is only 23 and made her debut in 2020’s One Second. She underwent three rounds of auditions for the role, beating out many to score the lead in a Zhang Yi Mou film. Originally a dance major with her parents owning a studio, she scored first place in the Folk Dance Department at the Beijing Art Academy. She will challenge her pure and bright image through the realistic role.
While netizens on Weibo approved of the male lead’s casting, there is some doubt cast on the acting skills of the female lead due to the complex role of Lee Ji An. Many have high expectations for the remake due to how loved the original was. Watch this space for more updates on the upcoming C-Drama!
