He can play any role!

Added more information in regards to Ahn Bo Hyun’s role in My Name since the drama premiered.

If you’ve been watching the K-Drama adaptation of Webtoon Yumi’s Cells, you probably were watching and thinking that there were some familiar faces. There’s not only Kim Go Eun as the titular character and SHINee‘s Minho as Woogie…

There’s also the actor who acts as Goo Woong. Meet Ahn Bo Hyun!

Ahn Bo Hyun.

He portrays Yumi’s current love interest Goo Woong. He’s a straightforward yet kindhearted video game developer.

Out of anyone, he looks most like his Webtoon character. The resemblance is really uncanny!

But if you’re an avid K-Drama-watcher like us, you probably thought that he not only looked like his Webtoon character but someone else entirely. Well, where have you seen him before? Actually, probably, many different places, but he barely looks anything like he does as Woong.

Before he found himself acting, he was an athlete. He graduated from Busan Sports High School, and he had participated in boxing competitions, even winning a gold medal.

Ahn Bo Hyun then entered the entertainment industry, originally debuting as a model under FN Entertainment. It’s no wonder, too, as he’s very handsome and taller than average at around 187 centimeters (6 feet, 2 inches).

But acting truly turned out to be his calling as he is quite the versatile actor. Some viewers don’t even immediately recognize him in his various K-Dramas because he can play different characters so well.

Believe it or not, he actually first started acting way back in 2014. Since then, he started getting supporting roles in K-Dramas, such as KBS2‘s Golden Cross and Two Mothers, then tvN‘s My Secret Hotel.

The next year, his career continued to progress more as he was cast in MBC‘s The Dearest Lady. He played Lee Bong Gil.

After that, he was cast in his first movie role that was also one of his first starring roles. He played Jin Sang in the 2016 film Hiya.

2016 was a great year for Ahn Bo Hyun as he started to appear more and more in K-Dramas as well. This is when many of us first started to see him. He appeared in My Runway and acted as Cha Kang Woo in tvN’s After the Show Ends, then as one of the members of the Alpha Team in KBS2’s Descendants of the Sun, one of our favorite dramas.

In 2017, he had a cameo in MBC’s All Kinds of Daughters-In-Law as James Seo/Seo Jun Young. That year, you might have also seen him in SBS PlusWednesday 3:30 PM as Baek Seung Kyu, KBS2‘s Girls’ Generation 1979 as Young Choon’s old friend, or Netflix‘s My Only Love Song as Moo Myung, the love interest of Princess Pyunggang.

He acted as Baek Do Hoon in the 2018 K-Drama Hide and Seek for MBC. His role as Pyo Tae Jin for the action web series Dokgo Rewind especially got recognition from viewers that year.

That’s not all either. He most recently appeared as Detective Jeon Pil Do in Netflix’s highly anticipated crime-action thriller series My Name, starring Nevertheless‘s Han So Hee and directed by Extracurricular director Kim Jin Min. The entire cast is phenomenal, but he especially was a fan favorite!

And, he surely has not given up his modeling career either! Recently, he has modeled for SWAGGERTrek Bicycle Corporation, and Italian designer brand Gianfranco Lotti.

If you want to get to know Ahn Bo Hyun even better, he actually has his own YouTube channel (브라보현/Bravo Hyun). He started it in February of 2019 and still occasionally updates it at least every couple of months.

He posts a variety of content, from vlogs of fishing and camping trips and foreign travels to working out and, of course, behind-the-scenes of his K-Dramas, so there’s something for everyone. As of now, he has over 257,000 subscribers!

Ahn Bo Hyun is definitely an actor to watch!
