Living Legend Ahn Sung Ki Suffers Severe Health Conditions After Leukemia Relapse

Ahn Sung Ki, one of South Korea’s most respected actors, has unfortunately had a new relapse of blood cancer.

Ahn, who had announced his complete recovery in 2020, is reportedly battling with severe health conditions after his relapse. Recently, actor Park Joong Hoon, a close associate of Ahn, shared the heartbreaking update during a press conference for his new essay collection, Don’t Regret.

When asked if Ahn Sung Ki had seen his book, Park responded, saying that he had not seen him in person in over a year due to his severe health condition. “He is in no condition to call or text me personally. So, I’m keeping in touch through his family members to keep checking in,” he stated, fighting back his emotions.

The actor also added, “I’m very sad that he’s not in a situation where he can fully appreciate that I’ve published this book.”

Ahn Sung Ki, often heralded as a living legend of the Korean entertainment industry, was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2019 and was declared in remission the following year. However, the cancer recurred during follow-up examinations, and he has been battling the disease ever since. His health condition showed first external signs of concern in 2022 when he attended a public event, looking noticeably frail. Since the release of his movies, Hansan: Rising Dragon and A Birth in 2022, he has been focusing on his treatment without taking on any new projects.
