American hip-hop singer “Injury Reserve” uses sample from f(x)’s song

In their song “Girl With The Gold Wrist” of their latest album Floss, American hip-hop trio Injury Reserve featured a guitar sample from f(x)‘s “Rum Pum Pum Pum.”

Injury reserve is comprised of rappers Steppa J. Groggs and Ritchie With a T, as well as producer Parker Corey. The three are based in Arizona, and have received a lot of praise for their music from American music critics.

Upon hearing the track, fans will instantly be able to recognize the similarities between the song and “Rum Pum Pum Pum.” In hip-hop, artists often sample parts of popular songs from other genre as a sign of respect and admiration. With how well the beat of “Rum Pum Pum Pum” matched with the rap in “Girl With the Gold Wrist,” perhaps more western artists will feature samples from K-Pop in the future.
