Arguments Made In First Hearing Of Lawsuit Against Kim Soo Hyun Amid Controversy With Kim Sae Ron

The first hearing for the damages lawsuit filed by a cosmetics brand, where Kim Soo Hyun was working as a model, took place amid allegations of his relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron during her minor years.
On the 21st, the 22nd Civil Division B of the Seoul Central District Court conducted the first hearing for the ₩500 million KRW (about $339,000 USD) damages lawsuit filed by cosmetics brand A against Kim Soo Hyun and his agency.
The A side pointed out that, “if unverified rumors are interpreted as not causing social controversy, then confirmed facts can be seen as causing social controversy.”
On the other hand, Kim Soo Hyun’s side questioned the interpretation of this clause, stating, “There are no confirmed facts.” They also emphasized, “Since there is no breach of social dignity obligations, the contract cannot be terminated.”
Kim Soo Hyun is continuing a truth dispute with the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute and the family of Kim Sae Ron over allegations of dating during her minor years. In March, he attended a press conference and acknowledged dating the deceased but denied it happened while she was a minor.
Subsequently, he filed a defamation lawsuit against Kim Sae Ron’s family and the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation), and also filed a damages claim worth around ₩12.0 billion KRW (about $8.14 million USD).
