“The Atrocities Of A Homewrecker” — Korean Star Athlete Sounds Off About Her Ex-Husband’s Cheating
Former Korean national fencing representative Nam Hyun Hee expressed her feelings regarding her ex-husband’s infidelity issue.
On the 9th, Nam Hyun Hee posted on her Instagram story, calling it “the atrocities of a homewrecker,” expressing her frustration. She said, “Please don’t let an unfair outcome occur. The truth must come out as it is,” and added, “If I feel wronged, I won’t stay silent. I will write the two XX’s names on A4 paper and cause a huge issue.” She also added, “I want a truthful outcome. I want to correct this.”
Earlier, on the 9th of last month, Nam Hyun Hee shared part of a KakaoTalk conversation between a man and a woman on her Instagram story. She claimed, “This conversation has been going on since 2021 between a married man and his mistress,” and stated, “I divorced because of this mistress.”
The released message showed that on August 30, 2021, the man sent, “You must be sleeping well. Good night,” to which the woman replied, “You too, good job. Fighting.”
Nam Hyun Hee said, “I overlooked it once, but when the affair happened again, I simply couldn’t endure it anymore,” expressing her frustration. She continued, “Still, people are blaming me as if I’m the cause of the divorce.” She added, “The mistress is still teaching children at a school and living well. Despite being caught twice, she shows no remorse,” and warned, “I will disclose all the materials to reveal the truth. I have nothing more to lose.”
Nam Hyun Hee is a star athlete who represented Korean women’s fencing, winning gold medals in both individual and team events at the 2006 Doha Asian Games. She went on to win a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and a bronze at the 2012 London Olympics. She is regarded as a key figure who led the heyday of Korean fencing by winning 99 medals in international competitions during her career.
She married a businessman five years her junior, a former national cycling representative, in 2011, and they had a daughter, but divorced in August 2023. Later that year in October, she announced her marriage to Jeon Cheong Jo, who claimed to be the third-generation heir of a chaebol family, attracting attention. However, controversy has continued due to suspicions surrounding Jeon Cheong Jo’s identity.
