BABYMONSTER’s Track Sampler For “BABYMONS7ER” Earns Renewed Criticism For Their Music
Leading up to the release of BABYMONSTER‘s first mini-album, BABYMONS7ER, which is set to come out on April 1, the group has shared a track sampler for the seven songs on the album.
The tracklist includes previously-released songs “BATTER UP” and “Stuck in the Middle” (both seven-member versions) as well as four new songs (intro “MONSTERS”, title track “SHEESH”, “Like That”, and “Dream”) and a remix version of “Stuck in the Middle”.
As with other previews of the group’s songs — as well as the release of their debut song “Batter Up” — the response to the track sampler has been less than positive with some. A lot of people seem to feel like YG Entertainment is trying to recycle old sounds and concepts from past girl groups 2NE1 and BLACKPINK into BABYMONSTER’s discography, rather than giving them a unique brand of their own. Others think that the style that the label sticks to is just outdated in general and in serious need of rebranding.
Here’s what netizens had to say in the comments of a forum post about the topic.
Do you think YG Entertainment needs to catch up with current trends?
