Beloved K-Drama Actor’s Supposedly Changed Visuals Spark Debate
K-Drama’s beloved face, Nam Joo Hyuk, recently became the topic of a sudden debate in Korean online forums.

Ever since his rise to stardom with Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo(2016), Nam has been widely acknowledged as one of the most handsome faces of the industry. After his last K-Drama, Vigilante, the actor took a pause from his career to enlist in the military and was discharged in September last year. However, since then, aside from brand events, he has not been seen much.

Now, according to some netizens, Nam’s face has supposedly changed in the time he has been away from the industry. A viral post on the Instiz posted the actor’s recent photos, claiming that his chin looked elongated than before. The OP(original poster) wrote, “This isn’t the face I knew from four years ago.”

The comments under the post were heavily divided. Some felt that the angle of the pictures made his chin look longer, while others speculated on the reasons behind a possible change in his appearance.

- “Isn’t it due to the angle?”
- “Are you sure it’s not because the photos were clicked from a low angle?”
- “It seems like a side effect of orthodontic treatment. Many people complain of their chin becoming longer or growing after orthodontic treatment.”

- “I’m not sure. He looks the same to me.”
- “Originally, men’s beards continue to grow until their 40s or 50s due to male hormones; the only difference is whether they grow noticeably or not.”
Meanwhile, Nam Joo Hyuk is reportedly preparing to make his comeback with a new occult drama, East Palace (working title).
