Beloved K-Drama Actress’ New Husband’s Controversial Past Gets Dug Up

Actress Lim Sung Eon who recently tied the knot, has been thrust into controversy as her husband, referred to as Mr. A, faces serious fraud allegations. On May 26, 2025, media outlet Dispatch reported that Mr. A, a businessman, was under investigation and trial for multiple charges including embezzlement, breach of trust, fraud, obstruction of business, and concealment of assets. The alleged damages reportedly amount to around ₩20.0 billion KRW (about $14.6 million USD).
According to Dispatch, Mr. A has a history of three prior convictions, including a real estate scam in Daejeon in 2007. The report also claimed that he misappropriated large sums of money by soliciting members under the guise of running a regional housing cooperative. Additionally, Dispatch alleged that Mr. A is currently under an overseas travel ban and unable to leave the country, which is why the couple’s honeymoon was held locally on Jeju Island. He was also quoted during a phone conversation with an acquaintance allegedly saying, “Do you know why I’m getting married? To avoid getting arrested. And Sung Eon’s family is wealthy. Just wait a little.”
In response to the explosive report, Mr. A’s legal representative, the law firm Yuseung, issued a statement denying the allegations, claiming that most of Dispatch’s exposé was untrue. The legal team further claimed that Dispatch has gotten their information from a creditor that allegedly has bad blood ith Mr. A’s company. Mr. A’s team also claimed that Dispatch unlawfully intruded on the couple’s private wedding ceremony to conduct unauthorized filming and interviews. A criminal complaint against both the creditor and the journalist involved was reportedly filed on May 19, 2025, and is currently under investigation.
Lim Sung Eon and Mr. A held a private wedding ceremony at a hotel in Gangnam, Seoul, on May 17, 2025. At the time, Mr. A was only described as an older, non-celebrity businessman. Lim Sung Eon gained fame through several dramas and films including Cheongdam-dong Scandal, Spring Night, My Little Bride, and Melisse. More recently, she has been active in theater performances.
