Big Hit Music made their statement to media outlet Tenasia, and stated that they do not have any comment to share about BTS’s military enlistment.

We have nothing further to say about their military enlistment besides what our artist has already said. We ask for your understanding.

Back in 2020 when BTS released their album BE, Jin mentioned that he would be ready to enlist in the military whenever the nation calls him to do so.

As a young South Korean, military service is a natural thing to do. If the nation calls me to do my military service, I will respond whenever that time is.

— Jin

Back in December 2020, the Ministry of Defense approved an amendment to the Military Service Act, allowing K-Pop artists who have received a decoration of cultural merit from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to delay their enlistment up until the age of 30. If BTS is considered eligible for the deferment, the group’s eldest member Jin will be able to postpone his enlistment until 2022.
