BIGBANG’s G-Dragon Hangs Out With BLACKPINK’s Lisa And “Elvis” Director Baz Luhrmann
BIGBANG‘s G-Dragon recently surprised fans with an unexpected photo on his Instagram story.
Australian director, writer, producer, and actor Baz Luhrmann, was the director and co-writer of the 2001 film, Moulin Rouge!, and 2013 film, The Great Gatsby. Most recently, he directed the movie Elvis, a biopic of American rock and roll legend Elvis Presley. Baz has been traveling to promote the new film, most recently in Japan.
In a video uploaded yesterday, he teased that he would be going to a “surprising location, doing a little bit of a surprise event.”
Baz’s latest Instagram update was from a theater in Korea today, where fans were chanting “Austin” in the audience, referencing the star of the Elvis biopic, actor Austin Butler. Austin Butler has previously been linked to BLACKPINK, having spent time with CELINE‘s director Peter Utz, and BLACKPINK‘s Lisa in Paris at a CELINE store.
While Baz is in Korea, it seems that he made time to meet up with some of K-Pop’s biggest stars. While it may seem random, BIGBANG and BLACKPINK have been linked to Baz Luhrmann before.
BLACKPINK’s Rosé was featured in Vogue Australia‘s June 2022 edition and was interviewed by Baz Luhrmann, who was also the guest editor.
Baz posted the cover to his Instagram with a caption complimenting Rosé.
It was great to interview the talented Australia-Korean star, @roses_are_rosie and fascinated by her insights on Elvis.

In April of this year, Baz also compared Elvis’ military service to other artists who have fulfilled their military service during their careers, such as G-Dragon, Monsta X‘s Shownu, and SHINee‘s Key, Onew, and Minho.
Baz had also met G-Dragon at a Chanel fashion show in Paris in 2014.
The two have reunited along with BLACKPINK’s Lisa, which G-Dragon shared on his Instagram story. In the photo, G-Dragon and Baz appear to be lounging on a couch while Lisa is seated next to them. G-Dragon added two Elvis stickers to the image and the painting of the Mona Lisa over BLACKPINK’s Lisa.
While there was no other context for the meeting, there may be a few hints that point towards a possible musical collaboration in the works.
In an update yesterday, Baz shared that he had discovered a beautiful cover of Elvis’ famous song, “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” which has inspired him to think about asking his friends and different artists to cover the song to be released at a later date. He hinted that it could be featured on an album with the film’s musical score.
G-Dragon has since posted the cover art for “Can’t Help Falling In Love” twice on his Instagram. He posted it once on his story, and again as an actual post.
BLACKPINK’s Rosé has also covered the song in the past and even performed it live in Macau on BLACKPINK’s In Your Area World Tour in 2019.
With G-Dragon hinting that he’s been in the studio and BLACKPINK confirming the members are also in the studio wrapping up their upcoming album, it seems like it could be possible that Lisa and G-Dragon could be preparing for a collab for the film.
