BIGHIT MUSIC Releases Statement, Updating On Legal Proceedings Against Violation Of BTS’s Rights

A lot of it might have to do with V.

On June 29, BIGHIT MUSIC released a statement via Weverse in both Korean and English, updating on legal proceedings against violating BTS‘s rights. This includes defamation, criticism, sexual harassment, etc.

Hello.

This is BIGHIT MUSIC.

Our company regularly initiates legal proceedings against perpetrators of malicious activities related to BTS, including defamation, personal attacks, sexual harassment, the spread of groundless information, and ill-intentioned criticism. We would like to provide an update on these activities.

BIGHIT MUSIC revealed that recently they have filed criminal complaints due to online posts defaming their artist. The proper information was collected with the help of ARMYs (BTS’s fandom).

We have recently filed additional criminal complaints against postings with personal attacks and defamation using new information provided by fans as well as collected through our monitoring initiatives.

One poster uploaded postings containing insults against the artist using dozens of different IP addresses on DC Inside and we have been monitoring these types of malicious postings and filed criminal complaints against the poster for all the postings with malicious comments.

Yet, BIGHIT MUSIC also found many more malicious contents, and there’s an ongoing investigation. BIGHIT MUSIC also explicitly called out “delusional content.”

Moreover, we have found more defamation postings with extremely malicious and delusional content and initiated legal proceedings against the posters. The complaint we have filed includes platforms not mentioned in this notice and we would also like to inform you that we cannot reveal every detail of the content of the complaint to ensure a proper investigation.

BIGHIT MUSIC warned that whenever their artists are concerned, strict measures will be taken to ensure their safety. They emphasized, “our policy of no settlement and no leniency remains in effect.”

BIGHIT regularly collects information on malicious postings regarding BTS, reports them to the authorities and files criminal complaints. The accused of an ongoing investigation recently attempted to settle the case but there will be no settlement nor leniency. We would like to stress that we will continue to initiate strict measures to ensure that these malicious acts are not repeated, and our policy of no settlement and no leniency remains in effect.

BIGHIT MUSIC did not explicitly state the defamation or malicious content they were concerned about. Still, this statement and acts follow many controversies, particularly related to V.

V in Paris.

In May, BTS‘s V and BLACKPINK‘s Jennie made headlines after an alleged photo of them together on Jeju Island circulated online. Although fans speculated it was Photoshopped or other people who look like the two idols, it made big news. HYBE/BIGHIT MUSIC has still never explicitly addressed it despite denying RM‘s marriage rumors.

This is a photo that was sent in today. It might be they are lookalikes, but it is allegedly a photo of two top idols. The female idol, in particular, has been rumored to have broken up with an OG idol member. So fans seem to be more receptive to this photo as true. We won’t name any names as we are not able to fact-check the photo.

Additionally, while V was in Paris for CELINE‘s Fashion Show, a video was captured of him at the after-party, pole dancing. Considering Korea is still quite conservative, BIGHIT MUSIC might have found issues with releasing the private video.

Previously, in March, BIGHIT MUSIC released a similar statement regarding legal proceedings against defamation of BTS after V said that he would proceed with a lawsuit regarding a YouTuber that spread malicious rumors against K-Pop idols. Read more below:
