Billboard Calls Out “Racist” Photographers At The 2024 Met Gala

Photographers were vocally rude to Stray Kids.

On May 6, JYP Entertainment boy group Stray Kids made history as the first entire K-Pop group to attend the MET Gala. The members wore coordinated Tommy Hilfiger outfits as brand ambassadors.

Unfortunately, the group also faced photographers who were heard being “disrespectful” to them in a video captured by media outlets. Some photographers were vocally rude to the members who graciously posed for photos.

Paparazzi 1: Never seen so many unemotional faces in my life.
Paparazzi 2: They’re like robots.
Paparazzi 1: Yeah, right.
Paparazzi 1: Now let’s do it with feeling!

It is expected for photographers to direct poses. Yet, these photographers were notably rude, as one was heard yelling, “Everyone jump,” before another said, “How do you say right in Korean?” One even joked that it looked like they would start performing while they complained about how Stray Kids were standing.

STAYs weren’t the only ones disgusted by the photographers’ behavior toward Stray Kids. Billboard News covered The 2024 MET Gala, and host TETRIS did not shy away from this incident.

TETRIS called out the photographers for being “rude” and “racist,” mentioning that one even spoke Japanese to the K-Pop group. He hopes that the MET will rethink its credential choices in the future.

TETRIS has been an outspoken K-Pop fan for a while. In the past, he shaded the GRAMMY Awards for snubbing BTS.
