BLACKPINK‘s Jennie has updated fans on her living situation. Like other K-Pop idols, she used to live in a dorm with her fellow members. In fact, she’s stayed with Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa ever since pre-debut.
Recently, however, the girls have quit the dorm life. Jennie told Rolling Stone in an interview that she is now living with her mom.
Yes [I’m living with her], but it’s a temporary phase.
They mutually decided to live with each other considering they haven’t done so for 18 years. Jennie moved out of the family home when she was only eight years old to study in New Zealand. She is now 26.
This could be TMI, but I was living abroad, and then the [YG] dorms for 10 years. So I’ve never really lived with my family.
Despite being separated for so long, they kept in close contact throughout the years. Jennie and her mom have a sister-like bond and as such had no problems moving in to spend more time with each other.
My mom and I have a very close relationship, almost like sisters. I decided a few years ago that I wanted to spend more time with my mom. We started living together for the past year, just around the time [BLACKPINK] got out of the dorms.
Despite this, they realized early on that their living arrangements should be kept short. They mutually decided that enough was enough.
‘Ugh, I’m moving out soon. I’ve had enough, mom!’ [Laughs.] Mom’s also like, ‘Get your own place.’ [Laughs.]
According to Jennie, their relationship grew stronger in the past year and it was simply the right time to go their separate ways.
It was definitely necessary for my mom and I to have this time together, and it was a good decision, but now I’m ready to move out.
