The Way BLACKPINK’s Jisoo Reacts To Friends And Family Bringing Up Her Fame Underlines Her Humility

She’s a humble queen 👑

As one of the most famous celebrities around, it wouldn’t be a surprise if BLACKPINK‘s Jisoo lived a frivolous lifestyle. In reality, she is the opposite of someone with a so-called celebrity disease.

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo

In an interview with Rolling Stone, she confirmed that she does not feel much different now compared to how she was like pre-debut. Jisoo said that the life she led in Gunpo, a small city in South Korea, was similar to the bigger world she experienced as a member of BLACKPINK.

Despite her undeniable fame, she does not think of herself as such a big deal.

You know, [I don’t feel] too differently. My mom and dad are proud of me, but I don’t feel like a world star.

— Jisoo

She also does not like it when her friends worry about her excessively when going out.

I’d go to see a play with friends, and they’d say, ‘Can you move around like this? You’re BLACKPINK!‘ Others say all the time, ‘Hey, this is a huge deal!’ It doesn’t resonate with me much.

— Jisoo

She wants people to know that under her popularity, she is just an ordinary girl.

I’m the same person that started training in high school. My social standing may have changed, but to me, I’m just …too me.

— Jisoo

Jisoo Pre-Debut

She delved deeper into how it is “not easy” to be restricted by the things she can and can’t do. Being able to move around freely is more difficult than people may think.

My high school friends, who know me well, are still baffled that I’m doing this job, and doing it well. They thought I’d live simply, freely, doing whatever I want. I always had a strong desire to move around freely…no matter how I move around there are people who recognize me. And then I have to be careful.

— Jisoo

Similar to Jisoo’s reply, fellow BLACKPINK member Jennie also talked about the desire of the group to be treated normally.

Sure, there are times when we talk about what kind of influence we could have…[but] more than anyone, we want to be ordinary girls.
