The picture was taken during BLACKPINK’s recent DEADLINE concert in Taiwan, and has quickly become a hot topic among fans… for all the wrong reasons.

In the photo, Lisa is seen wearing one of her on-stage outfits, but what caught fans’ attention wasn’t her styling. Many pointed out that her face looked noticeably altered, with her skin tone appearing much lighter than usual.

Some even commented that the edit made her look like an entirely different person, questioning why someone would retouch her features to that extent.

Though photo-editing is common in K-Pop fandom culture, this one struck a nerve. Fans expressed frustration that such editing erases Lisa’s natural appearance and perpetuates unrealistic beauty standards. Others argued that the photo reflects a recurring issue in the industry — “whitewashing” — where idols’ complexions are lightened in media or fan content, intentionally or otherwise.

As BLACKPINK’s DEADLINE tour continues across different countries, Lisa’s photo taken in Taiwan has once again highlighted how something as small as a fan edit can spark wider conversations about beauty, identity, and representation within the K-Pop community.
