In her exclusive interview with W Korea, BLACKPINK’s maknae opened up about the group’s history-making performances at Coachella in 2019 and 2023.

She revealed that during BLACKPINK’s first Coachella performance in 2019, she “wasn’t that worried,” but the experience was different in 2023.

… things are different, and I know how audiences would react as I go up to the stage. I was even honored as the headliner of 2023. When I came down the stage, I kept crying. When I think about it, I had been feeling a good pressure before standing on the stage.

Lisa found inspiration not just from performing at the festival but also from enjoying other artists’ performances.

Coachella was very inspiring, and I could recharge myself with positive energy. As I watched the performance of other musicians, I also thought about what I should try next time.

When asked if there was a moment she considered a “big leap forward” in her life, she couldn’t identify a single moment but shared that her confidence has instead grown gradually over time.

Lisa admitted Coachella was a “life turning point” for her and played a “huge part” in increasing her confidence.

She candidly revealed that before Coachella 2019, she had struggled with the predictable K-Pop idol promotional cycle.

Before Coachella, I pondered how to enjoy the cycle of comeback, song release, practice, and next comeback.

Coachella broadened my horizon of thoughts, and I think I found a way to fully enjoy the stage. I’m sure other BLACKPINK members experienced that too.
