BLACKPINK Says Their Knees Are Covered In Bruises From The Intense Choreography For “How You Like That”

6pm can’t come fast enough!

Prior to the drop of their comeback title track, “How You Like That”, BLACKPINK held their live broadcast press conference on the 26th of June 2020, at 2pm. There were a total of 500,000 fans in virtual attendance, apart from press outlets.

Jennie shared that the new song is definitely fresher than the previous songs, and they had started the preparation process with the thought of challenging new and varied genres of music. The girls of BLACKPINK had gathered and discussed how to best show a variety of charms and performance to their fans. Fans would be relieved to hear that the process was very enjoyable according to Jennie!

“How You Like That” is teased as a hip-hop song with powerful beats and an explosive drop, that features BLACKPINK’s unique charisma. The song starts off with orchestral music, continuing into an addictive melody. According to Jisoo, the message of the song is positive, and she tried hard to encapsulate a message of being confident to not crumble in the face of adversity. The members also tried to show off their group’s unique colors while still keeping in tune with the powerful hip-hop concept.

Jennie further teased fans by revealing that although they can’t give choreography spoilers, they practiced for the chorus dance moves until they had all received bruises on their knees. Don’t fret though – the girls seemed to take it in stride as they also laughed while they compared who had more intense bruises!
Lisa expressed hopes that fans would enjoy looking at the different stylings and stage performances as they put in much effort every album. At the press conference, it was also revealed that the girls are in plans for solo activities, although no further information was spoiled. Looks like Blinks will have to watch this space for future updates!

In the meantime, “How You Like That” drops in just 3 hours at 6pm KST today. Prior to that, a countdown with the girls will be up at 5pm KST on live streaming channels including their official YouTube.
