Moreover, the YG CEO shared his own opinion about BLACKPINK’s debut in the American market, stating that it could be a blue ocean for BLACKPINK.

This is just my own personal opinion but there hasn’t been a popular girl group in America and Europe since the 5-member group, Spice Girls, who debuted in 1996. I believe this is because there were not many girl groups that debuted in the aspect of cultural systems.

Therefore, I think the American and European market could be a blue ocean for BLACKPINK. This expectation is based on data analysis. According to the analysis of Youtube views of BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU” for each country, their earnings were No.1 in the US. In terms of views, they reached No.5 in the US, No.7 and No.9 in Brazil and Mexico respectively, and within the top 20 in France, Russia, England and Germany and therefore, if BLACKPINK were to promote abroad, we expect these indexes to increase as well.

He also referred back to Chairman Lucian Grainge of Universal Music and Chairman John Janick of Interscope Records, who have previously shown their interest and affection for BLACKPINK.

Recently, I met with Chairman Lucian Grainge of Universal Music and Chairman John Janick of Interscope Records in America for negotiations and I was able to confirm that they held much affection for BLACKPINK and were very much passionate about BLACKPINK’s successful promotions.

Yang Hyun Suk concluded by stating that YG Entertainment will do their best for the successful promotions of BLACKPINK in collaboration with their American partners.

YG will do our best for the sucessful promotions of BLACKPINK in collaboration with our partners.
