BoA Leaves SM Entertainment After 25 Years
Singer and actress BoA is ending her relationship with SM Entertainment.
On the 12th, SM Entertainment stated, “We sincerely thank all Jumping BoA fans and everyone who has loved and supported BoA.”
They added, “After long and in-depth discussions with BoA, we have agreed to conclude our 25-year partnership on December 31.”
They continued, “BoA, who debuted in 2000 at the age of 13, has been an icon of overseas expansion and a ‘star of Asia’ who pioneered the Korean Wave across the continent. Even after 25 years since her debut, she has received great love from global music fans and has become a role model for countless younger artists leading the K-pop wave.”
SM also said, “As a pioneer and trailblazer, BoA’s journey has shone brightly with remarkable achievements and unparalleled records thanks to her relentless effort and passion.”
They added, “From her special debut that made new history in Korean popular music to her growth into a No.1 artist and producer, we will cherish every moment. It was a true honor to share her brilliant path.”
They went on, “For 25 years, BoA has been SM’s pride, honor, and symbol. Although her exclusive contract with us is ending, we will support her as she freely showcases her talents in new activities and challenges ahead, continuing to shine as the ‘star of Asia.’”
Finally, they asked for “much love and interest for BoA’s future endeavors. We also support BoA not just as an artist, but as Kwon BoA the person, wishing her genuine happiness.”
