BTS Breaks Into TOP 10 Physical Album Sales Of All Time

BTS just made history once again by breaking into the top 10 physical album sales of all time in K-Pop!

BTS has ranked number 7 in the top 10 physical album sales of all time with their mini album “Love Yourself: Her.”

The album has sold 1,614,000 copies as of February 2018.

The top 10 albums cover single album sales from March 1992 to February 2018 and include past first generation artists such as Seo Taiji and the Kids, god, H.O.T and Turbo.

SeoTaiji and the Boys were popular in the 90s.

First generation artists kickstarted the popularity of K-Pop in the 1990s, while the second generation wave (including BIGBANG, 2NE1, Girl’s Generation, Super Junior, SHINee etc) modernized the genre and helped it spread worldwide. Third generation artists are those who debuted after 2011, spearheaded by BTS, EXID, TWICE and Red Velvet, among others, who are monopolizing on the international market.

BTS is the first idol group in a small agency to feature on the list and the first 2/3rd generation group to compete for physical sales – which is a big deal since there were no digital sales for the first generation K-Pop artists who relied solely on physical album sales.

Album sales are expected to continue throughout 2018 with repackaging so BTS’s position in the top 10 list will likely rise to more than 2 million copies, surpassing Seo Taiji and the Kids, who hold the first position with 2,220,000 copies sold in 1992!

If it wasn’t clear before, BTS really is making K-Pop history!
