BTS Jungkook’s 2022 GRAMMYs Stunt Looked Even More Dangerous In Person—But He Didn’t Seem Scared At All

Here’s how it looked like live.

BTS recently performed their hit single “Butter” at the 64th Grammy Awards where they were nominated for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.”

Though they didn’t end up winning the award, they still managed to awe everyone with their live singing skills, synchronized dancing, and top tier visuals. As the cherry on top, their stage concept also perfectly fit the lyrics, “Smooth like butter, like a criminal undercover.”

The members personified their inner spies in black suits and ties. Jungkook, in particular, made a huge entrance not from the side of the stage like Jin

…nor in front of the stage like the other members…

…but on top of it!

He stood several meters off the ground with only a thin pole to hold onto and a small step barely wide enough for his two feet to step on.

It was as dangerous as it looked. In a behind the scenes video released by Variety, Jungkook’s entrance was seen from the point of view of the audience, showing how the distance between him and the floor was even more pronounced in person.

Despite the potential risks of falling and seriously injuring himself, he didn’t seem to be scared at all. He even moved around ever so slightly in midair while adjusting his clothes.

What’s even more amazing was that Jungkook did not have much time to practice the stunt. BTS revealed in their live broadcast after the 2022 GRAMMYs that they only had a single day dedicated for overall preparations.

Jimin: I’m actually really grateful for the members because we only got to rehearse all together for a day.
J-Hope: Yesterday.
Jimin: Right, we finally got together and tried it as a group of seven for the first time yesterday so I was really nervous about [the performance].

As ARMYs already know, this isn’t the first time Jungkook pulled off a stunt like this.

He previously performed “Euphoria” with this same trick at the Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour in 2019. Jungkook “flew” over thousands of fans while holding onto the thin pole and singing at the same time.

He definitely made his mark then and yet again!
