BTS’s Jungkook Makes Large-Scale Donation To Children’s Hospital, Almost Matching The Government’s Budget

His donation will be crucial for treating sick children.

Recently, the Seoul National University Children’s Hospital announced that BTS‘s Jungkook made a generous donation to their organization on April 14.

The hospital shared that the singer donated ₩1.00 billion KRW (about $758,000 USD), which will be a great help to continue treating children from poor financial backgrounds. The m money will also go towards helping support the children’s families.

Seoul National University Children’s Hospital is well-known for treating children with severe and rare diseases, as well as pediatric cancer and leukemia. There is also an integrated care facility that treats sick children and also helps them with recovery while supporting their families.

But this care center is entirely non-profit. In fact, according to the hospital, it operates at a loss, and without donations, it would be impossible for them to continue helping the children in need. The hospital emphasized how helpful Jungkook’s donation will be for the children and their families they continue caring for.

Taking care of children’s health is like determining their lifetime, so sponsorships are an investment in the future and hope, and it also gives a sense of relief and peace to their families. We will do our best to return the children healthy to their homes, schools, families, and friends by utilizing the grateful support in the best possible way.

Regarding his charity work, Jungkook was quoted saying, “I hope to be of some help to children who are suffering, and I wish they can smile healthily.”

It’s significant to note that in 2023, the government cut the operational budget that was previously allotted to public children’s rehabilitation hospitals in the Seoul-Gyeonggi province. In 2022, the allotted amount was ₩1.50 billion KRW (about $1.14 million USD).

The fact that Jungkook almost matched the government’s contribution through personal donation seems to have left a deep impression on netizens.
