“Marry My Husband” IRL: Ex-Wife Faces Popular Actress Rumored To Have “Stolen” Her Husband
When actress Choi Yeo Jin was confirmed to appear on SBS‘s Same Bed, Different Dreams alongside her husband-to-be, online communities buzzed about the wedding announcement—noting that the actress’s fiancé was once her good friend’s husband.
Back in 2020, Choi Yeo Jin, her good friend, and the said friend’s ex-husband (now Choi Yeo Jin’s new fiancé) even appeared on a TV entertainment program together, boasting the three of them were “like family.” The seemingly complicated history between the three fueled wild speculations. Most accused Choi Yeo Jin of “stealing” her friend’s husband while living at their house outside Seoul.
Amid the buzz, all three involved in the relationship showed face on the Same Bed, Different Dreams episode and talked about what actually happened among them. Choi Yeo Jin introduced her fiancé, commenting that while she was not attracted to his appearance at first, she fell in love with him for who he is inside.

Then, she hopped on a video call with his ex-wife and confronted the ongoing rumors head-on. The ex-wife brought up YouTube videos that alleged Choi Yeo Jin’s relationship to be adulterous/inappropriate—and confirmed that the two started dating after she got divorced.
Ex-Wife: Yesterday, my dongsaeng sent me something… A YouTube video. Apparently, there are weird videos about you on YouTube right now.
Choi Yeo Jin: Oh… I see.
Ex-Wife: So I reported those accounts… Did you see them, too, unnie?
Choi Yeo Jin: I did.
Ex-Wife: You must be so heartbroken…
Choi Yeo Jin: Well… Yeah. I’m quite bummed.
Ex-Wife: I don’t get it. You started seeing him after he and I got divorced. We were done and over. Like… Who gave them the right to talk about us like that? I’m the one who knows what happened. I’m literally the person involved and I’m saying it was nothing inappropriate. So who are they to keep yapping?! Listen, everyone. I give them my blessing!

The fiancé, Kim Jae Wook, also refuted some of the “evidence” that was posed across online communities as signs of him and Choi Yeo Jin dating behind the ex-wife’s back.
Choi Yeo Jin: This is one of the reasons I had to think really hard before starting a relationship with him. There are now malicious comments online and other rumors being spread about us…
Kim Jae Wook: Since I’m involved in sports, I received the sunglasses in question as part of a sponsorship. But it wasn’t just me wearing them; the whole team had those sunglasses. But then, people started saying nonsense, like we were wearing them as a matching couple item. It didn’t make sense.
The thing is, I got married in 2016, and about six months after the wedding, we realized that we were headed in different directions with our lives. After that, we lived separately for about a year. During that time, I stayed in one of the seasonal dorms thatI own, and my ex-wife stayed in another room on the opposite end of the property. We lived like that. After living separately for a while, we got divorced, but we didn’t talk about it to anyone around us. We didn’t want to upset our parents, and neither of us are the type to talk openly about things like that. We got divorced, but we didn’t feel the need to tell anyone about it. Though I know it’s hard to understand, we parted on good terms. We both went our separate ways, and I genuinely hope that my ex-wife is doing well.
Receiving the blessing from the ex-wife, Choi Yeo Jin broke into tears and re-assured the viewers that she has not done anything to be ashamed of—pleading to refrain attacking her or her non-celebrity fiancé.
“The thing is, we have not been in this romantic relationship for that long. But I can say that we started dating after his divorce. I just hope people understand that I didn’t do anything that could have led others to misunderstand.
I’m sorry that I’ve gotten him and his ex-wife involved in this. I feel like they now have to deal with unnecessary noise and attention because of me. Even though there was no reason for such, old videos resurfaced.
To be completely honest, I did think something like this might come up. I knew that people who didn’t know the whole situation could easily judge based on preconceived notions. I expected those kinds of comments. But if I had that kind of intention… If I had wanted to date him from the beginning, I wouldn’t have gone on a show. Think about it from my perspective. Had there been anything to hide, I would not have been able to announce to the world that I’m in a relationship with this man.
