DAY6 Ditches Customary Concert Ritual Supporting Protests Against “Sh*tty” Organizers

DAY6‘s latest concert in Jakarta, Indonesia, has been tainted with controversy after controversy, leading to huge outrage against the event’s organizers.

The concert, organized and managed by Mecima Pro, faced one mismanagement after another, often risking the safety of the audience members. First, the organizers abruptly changed the venue to an open-roof stadium, leaving fans concerned about the lack of protection amid Indonesia’s severe weather. They also re-adjusted the seating plan, offering fans no refunds for their tickets.

On the day of the concert, fans were left waiting outside in the middle of thunderstorms, heavy rains, and strong winds without any shelter. According to the attendees, while the representatives of Mecima Pro were inside the venue, sitting up front, comfortably, fans inside and outside were protesting against their mismanagement. Even the members themselves looked uneasy and apologized during the soundcheck. DAY6’s staff members were seen having heated exchanges with the Mecima Pro team.

Despite the challenges, DAY6 pulled through the concert and gave the fans the performance they deserved. However, in the end, they skipped a concert ritual in support of fans’ protests against the organizers.

After the concert was over, when the members came on stage to take a picture with the entire audience, they initially held up the support banners, mistaking them to be fan-made. But as they were about to pose with the banners, fans in the front row shouted out that the organizers had made those banners, and they didn’t want them in the photo. Hearing this, all four of the DAY6 members put the banners down and proceeded to take the photo.

Taking pictures with support banners is almost customary in any Korean artist’s concert. So, DAY6 skipping it in support of their fans’ outrage against the concert organizers touched the hearts of many. Some fans were also heartbroken at the unnecessary chaos that the members had to power through for no fault of their own.
