The Deep Meaning Behind BTS’s New Album Title “ARIRANG”
The title of BTS’s new album, to be released after 3 years and 9 months, is ARIRANG.
On the 16th at midnight, BTS revealed the album title of their fifth full-length album, set to be released on March 20, through the global superfans platform Weverse. The new album, which includes a total of 14 tracks, draws attention by adopting the title of Korea’s representative folk song, “Arirang.”
ARIRANG represents BTS’s identity and the emotions they want to share with their music fans. Ahead of their long-awaited comeback, they naturally focused on their roots as a team, their starting point, and their inner stories. They sought to blend the group’s Korean origins and deeply rooted feelings of longing and love into the music. ARIRANG symbolically reflects this identity and the sentiment of the new album.
Since their debut, BTS has consistently delivered sincere music that conveys the members’ experiences and thoughts. This genuine expression resonated widely, becoming the power behind their songs. In particular, the new album is expected to resonate broadly with people worldwide by addressing universal emotions like longing and deep love.
BTS will embark on a new world tour starting with a concert in Goyang on April 9. The tour will take place in 34 cities around the globe with a total of 79 performances, marking the highest number of shows in K-pop history. With additional concerts planned in Japan and the Middle East, the tour’s scale is expected to expand further. They will become the first Korean artists to perform in numerous stadiums, including El Paso, Foxborough, Arlington, and Baltimore in the US. Additionally, they plan to create a 360-degree stage production to maximize the audience’s immersion at the venue.
