DJ Koo Unrecognizable In His Late Wife Barbie Hsu’s Family Photo—Concerns Fans
Earlier in 2025, on February 3, it was reported that Barbie Hsu passed away from acute pneumonia while traveling in Japan. Months later, in celebration of Mother’s Day (Parents’ Day), the late actress’s bereaved family gathered—including her husband, DJ Koo (Koo Jun Yeop).
On May 12, 2025 (local time), Barbie Hsu’s mother, Huang Chunmei, shared a photo of all the family members on social media. Noting how heartbroken she was, she also pointed out that DJ Koo had lost a lot of weight in utter grief.

In the photo she posted, DJ Koo is seen wearing a black shirt, hat, and glasses. His noticeably slimmer face shows sharp cheekbones and a visible jawline. Earlier, local Taiwanese media reported that after Barbie Hsu’s funeral in March, DJ Koo withdrew from public life and had lost over 26 pounds (12 kilograms), making him almost unrecognizable.
He is currently said to be focused on creating a statue in honor of Barbie Hsu. The statue will reportedly be placed at Chin Pao San cemetery in New Taipei, Taiwan, where her ashes were laid to rest.

Huang Chunmei continued, “I’m truly thankful that so many fellow celebrities and members of the public continue to remember my daughter and send me warm messages of support. I will try to stay strong. It won’t be easy right away, but I believe things will gradually get better.”
Following the update, the fans are also heartbroken in longing for Barbie Hsu and in solidarity with DJ Koo.
