According to reports from Variety and legal sources, the global pop star has filed a lawsuit against both Samsung Electronics and Samsung Electronics America in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. The lawsuit centers around a TV product box that allegedly featured Dua Lipa’s image on the front without her consent. The singer is said to be seeking $15 million USD in damages.

Dua Lipa’s side claims that Samsung used her image on TV packaging distributed across the United States without her consent, approval, or licensing agreement. The lawsuit further alleges that Samsung profited from her likeness while failing to compensate her.

The image at the center of the dispute was reportedly taken backstage at the 2024 Austin City Limits festival. According to Dua Lipa’s team, the photo is officially registered with U.S. copyright authorities and belongs to the singer.

The lawsuit also argues that Samsung’s use of the image may have misled consumers into thinking Dua Lipa was officially endorsing the product. Social media posts from consumers who allegedly believed she was connected to the TV campaign were reportedly included in the complaint as evidence.

Dua Lipa’s team further stated that the singer has been highly selective about advertising and promotional deals to protect the premium brand image she has built throughout her career. The star also reportedly asked Samsung to stop using the image after discovering the issue. However, her side claims the company ignored the demand and refused to comply.

Samsung has not yet responded to the reports. Stay tuned for updates.
