The Duo Behind The “Oppaya” Song, SEENROOT, Have Disbanded
Shin Hyun Hee and Kim Root, the (ex) members of SEENROOT, have decided to part ways after their contracts expired.
On May 1, Shin Hyun Hee posted a good-bye message to her Instagram.
Hello, everyone. This is Hyun Hee. I’m writing for the first time after a while, but now I have something serious I must say. I have had SEENROOT as my second name since I was twenty-one, but now that our contracts have expired, we have chosen to go our seperate ways. I have experienced ups and downs, laughed and cried while promoting as part of SEENROOT. I have much regret and I am very apologetic to be giving you this news out of the blue.
Thank you to the fans who loved SEENROOT, to the fans whom I adore, and to everyone who helped us over the years. I will continue to make music as “Shin Hyun Hee”, and even though I am afraid and a little nervous about whether or not I can do this alone, making music and singing is what makes me the happiest. I will put my all in every performance. Please support my new start! I will not forget the times I spent as SEENROOT, thank you for making it happen.
The group debuted back in 2014 and gained fame in 2015 after their song “Sweet Heart” (also known as “Oppaya”) was being used for aegyo in numerous variety shows.
