According to Daily Sports, he has reportedly informed the company that he will not renew his contract with Company SooSoo, which is set to expire on December 7. It has been confirmed that he owns a 50% stake in the company.

Company SooSoo was founded in 2023 with its manager, who had worked with him for over ten years since he was at SM Entertainment. D.O. moved to Company SooSoo in November of the same year, following the end of his contract with SM. During this process, he was granted a 50% stake and registered as the director of the company.

He has been active as both the owner and sole artist of the company; however, he suddenly announced his intention to leave, reportedly retaining 50% of his stake.

Since the company was created specifically for D.O., the remaining employees must find a way to continue with his absence. However, because he holds 50% of the stake, they believe it won’t be easy without his approval.

However, netizens expressed a divided response to his decision.

  • “At first, I was like huh? But then I realized D.O. has no reason to give us his stake. To put it simply, since they can’t give him a down payment, they gave him a 50% stake instead, so he has no reason to give it up.”
  • “The employees must be in a tough spot…they should pack up and find a new place to work.”
  • “Isn’t it up to him?”
  • “Promoting somewhere else while holding on to the stake? This is a strange situation.”
  • “This article seems like the company’s position on the matter…D.O. has the right to protect his rights.”
  • “Although it’s up to him, morally it doesn’t seem right.”
  • “It is a strange situation.”
  • “I’m sure they will figure it out themselves…does this really need to be reported on?”
  • “What’s the problem? It’s up to him whether or not he sells it.”
